Lets being with the Winter line up of 2012. I have decided to do some episodic reviews for some of the shows that interested me. Here is the first – Another, is an anime/manga that is either trying to be creepy or actually is. It’s too early to tell however.
Summary:
That class in the school held a secret that nobody must speak of…Spring, 1998. When Kouichi Sakakibara (15) transfers to Yomiyama North Middle School, he senses something out of place in the atmosphere of a class that seems to be afraid of something. Kouichi is drawn to a mysterious girl, Mei Misaki, and tries to make contact with her, only to find more mysteries. As he does, the class is stricken by a disaster that nobody could have imagined! Just what is going on in this “world”? (Crunchyroll)
In my opinion the first episode was pretty good. I mean for that kind of genre, they made it mysterious, creepy and on top of all that interesting. I’ve seen tons of anime where the story tries to portray something but in the end it doesn’t really go anywhere. It just ends up looking like half assed crap, excuse my language.
To begin, I really liked the animation here, the quality was top notch as well as the voice actors. I really liked the mystery aspect of the show. They don’t reveal too much but it doesn’t annoy me. I am looking forward to watching another episode just to see what happens. I hope they don’t screw it up. I mean I already get the jist, it looks like someone in their class either died or committed suicide but whats with those creepy dolls they keeps showing. The try aspect here really pisses me off, they better have a point for it. 
I really liked how they made the beginning of the show start, with the story of Misaki. It was very creepy and gave me shivers. They never showed her face in the intro so I was very curious as to how and what she looked like. I think they really got their point across there.
I do wonder why that entire class is possessed like some sort of cult, I mean why do they hide that someone died back in the day? So here comes the interesting aspect of the show. It keeps me guessing, whether it is supernatural or just an overly creative imagination of an entire class.
The creepy dolls that keep flashing between the scenes remind me of some serial killer.
Also, Akazawa Izumi the chick in charge of countermeasures is very strict and everyone seems afraid of her. She seems to be the one who controls the class.
The weirdest past of the show is that they allow such a creepy class to exist… I mean why not close that part of the school and make another class?
They showed a lot of characters in the first episode from class 3, I am very intrigued in knowing how they will make use of all of them. That’s definitely something to look forward to.
In the end this show is definitely worth watching the second episode. It seems very well made and hopefully wont loose its edge as the episodes progress.
I think this one maybe a little to out there for my tastes
